Stannah have an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Accountant to join the Group Finance Team based at our head office in Andover.
This job will involve supporting the finance team in the preparation of statutory accounts and key financial reports for the Stannah Group. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of financial responsibilities while developing both personally and professionally.
As the Assistant Accountant, you will work full-time hours. This job is a permanent position.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to study towards a professional accounting qualification (which will be fully supported) and to gain experience across various aspects of finance in a large and successful business.
To be successful as the Assistant Accountant, it is essential that you have strong Excel skills and the ability to interpret large sets of data. Experience or a degree in finance or accounting would be desirable, but not essential if you have a keen interest and strong aptitude for numbers and analysis.
Assistant Accountant Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparation of statutory accounts and supporting notes
- Support preparation for the Group audit
- Liaise with overseas subsidiaries and assist with consolidation and annual returns
- Carry out internal audits for UK companies
- Collect data for bi-weekly ONS returns
- Regularly review UK balance sheet control accounts
- Assist with corporation tax and quarterly tax returns
- Support group property administration
- Prepare payment practice reports
- Help develop new processes and controls within the new finance system
- Assist with cashflow reporting, forecasting and budgeting
- Build working relationships with wider finance and treasury teams
- Review company expenses in line with policy
- Provide general finance support as required
Assistant Accountant Requirements:
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and organise workload
- Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check work
- Proficient Excel and general PC skills
- Comfortable working with and interpreting large datasets
- Positive, enthusiastic attitude with a flexible, investigative approach
- Calm under pressure and effective in a team environment
- Willingness to study towards a professional accountancy qualification
