Are you looking for an opportunity to have your work admired the world over?
Sunseeker International is pleased to be working in collaboration with Matchtech Engineering Recruitment Specialists and MANE Aerospace to deliver an innovative Adult Learners Pathway in GRP Laminating and Finishing (Composites).
GRP Laminating and Finishing is a core trade in the production of our world‑renowned luxury motor yachts. It is the process used to manufacture the hulls, decks and superstructures of our award‑winning product range.
About Sunseeker International
Sunseeker was founded on a bold vision: to create a new kind of yacht and redefine what was possible on the water. From our earliest designs in 1967, we’ve pushed boundaries and reshaped the motor yacht industry through innovation, craftsmanship and relentless ambition.
At the heart of every Sunseeker lies a legacy of expert hands and meticulous attention to detail, skills refined and passed down through generations. These are the qualities that set our yachts apart - and the qualities that continue to drive our craft today.
In a world increasingly defined by automation, we remain committed to building hand‑crafted, hand‑finished boats. With over 1,800 talented team members across our busy shipyards - from long‑serving specialists to more than 180 apprentices - our Sunseeker workforce reflects the strength, diversity and pride of our local community. It’s this blend of heritage, skill and passion that makes our shipyards unlike any other place in the world.
The Role
As a Trainee GRP Laminator / Finisher, you will play a pivotal role in the manufacture of composite components made from Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP). You will gain hands‑on experience producing everything from large mouldings, such as hulls and decks up to 134 feet in length, to smaller components including locker lids.
Throughout the programme, you will learn:
- Traditional wet lay‑up GRP techniques
- Advanced closed mould GRP infusion processes
- Safe handling of materials, tools, and equipment
- Quality standards and production systems used in marine manufacturing
Training will take place initially within Sunseeker’s Skills Centre, providing a safe, controlled environment away from the pressures of the boatlines. You will also make regular visits to the boatlines, shadowing experienced trade specialists, to gain a real‑world understanding of the role and its requirements.
What to Expect
This programme is suited to applicants who are:
- Comfortable working in a physical, hands‑on, labour‑intensive role
- Happy working as part of a team‑based manufacturing environment
- Keen to learn a highly skilled trade within a world‑class organisation
Alongside practical skills, you’ll develop a strong understanding of health & safety, quality measures, and production discipline, setting the foundation for a long‑term career at Sunseeker.
