Job title: Sunseeker Apprentice (Carpentry, OR Engineering, OR Composites, OR Electrical)

Salary: £4.84 per hour in year one, rising to £12.48 per hour on completion of training in year five, plus overtime

Working hours: 7am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (four days a week)

College hours: 8am to 4pm (one day a week)

Contract: 4 or 3 year fixed term training contract

Sunseeker has recognised the benefits of developing Apprentices since 1979. We work with Bournemouth & Poole College and its specialist Marine Technology Centre to hone the high level skills required to develop the Marine Engineers and Boat Builders of the future.

As an Apprentice you will play a pivotal role on the manufacturing production lines of the iconic yacht range, from the 48ft San Remo through to our flagship 155ft super yacht, learning traditional and modern manufacturing techniques.

To be considered for a Sunseeker Apprenticeship you should have:

For Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering roles:

  • x5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent, such as a relevant level 2 vocational qualification (NVQ, C&G etc)

 

For Carpentry roles:

  • x5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 3 (A* to D) or equivalent, such as a relevant level 1 vocational qualification (NVQ, C&G etc)

 

For Composites roles (GRP Laminating)

  • x4 GCSEs at grades 9 to 2 (A* to E) or equivalent, or an excellent reference from your school or college together with an excellent attendance record, or, a relevant level 1 vocational qualification (NVQ, C&G etc)

 

Together with:

  • The capability to pass a basic practical and engineering comprehension test
  • Availability to commence employment from the 3rd September 2018
  • Note: there are no age restrictions for apprenticeships however, the pay scale remains the same

 

In return Sunseeker provides a rewarding career starting with a 4 or 3 year fixed term training contract. Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeship in Boat Building, a fully funded tool kit and power tools, paid day release to college, work wear, 22 days holidays plus bank holidays, sick pay, overtime, canteen facilities and after completion of training, the opportunity for a permanent contract with private medical insurance, dental care and an extra 3 days holiday.  Promotion opportunities and further education options also exist on completion of training.

Hourly Pay Scale: (40 paid hours a week, incl attendance at college)

  • Year 1 = £4.84
  • Year 2 = Minimum wage for your age
  • Year 3 = £7.53 (£7.83 if 25+)
  • Year 4 = £10.07
  • Completion/Year 5 = Up to £12.48. plus overtime
