Highways England have awarded telent the contract for the operation and management of NRTS2 (National Roads Telecommunication Services), NRTS is the network of communication and control that Highways England uses to monitor and manage England’s motorways and major trunk roads, it is a critical component of national infrastructure supporting the country’s 4,400 mile strategic road network.
The contract includes a major technology transformation programme in addition to general maintenance and management of the network; The transformation programme comprises of 11 technology projects, including the introduction of new wireless and IP CCTV services, new management systems and the next-generation upgrade of all technology, this will ultimately enable Highways England to prepare for the future and enable safer roads, more efficient delivery and a better road user experience.

Role Profile: 
•Work on routine provisioning tasks assigned by the Provisioning Manager.
•Understand the technical design and customer requirement. 
•Be responsible for any administrative tasks related to provisioning.
•Configure IP network (eg IP routers, Optical Transmission equipment,  IP Access equipment, firewalls, security devices) to provide customer with the requested service.
•Manage assigned IP Provisioning/configuration tasks and ensure that all services are delivered in-line with targets with high quality. You’ll update and maintain provisioning records on the database, as well as providing assistance with IP and Ethernet service testing and implementation.
•Provisioning according to the network planning and guidance provided.
•Escalate issues affecting the provisioning of orders.
•Update and maintain provisioning records on the database, as well as providing assistance with IP and Ethernet service testing and implementation.
•Liaison with Design Team to understand scope of works and assist with design changes to the NRTS IP network.
•Work with roadside implementation team and co-ordinate installation, configuration and testing of new equipment and services.
•Will require out of hours working as per Scheme demands. 
•Alongside standard provisioning, adhoc Project activities will require involvement.
•Sharing knowledge with other members of the team. 
•Use initiative to identify improvements to existing documentation and processes.

Typical Deliverables:
•Ensure all required schemes are delivered to Regional Project Managers on time.
•Ensure all provisioning activities are RIGHT FIRST TIME.
•Demonstrate managing workload in fast paced environment and frequently changing priorities.
•Ensure internal and external customer queries, provisioning faults and escalations are managed within KPIs.
•Able to deliver urgent/expedite task within the given timeline.

Business Operations Skills – Experience:
•Good understanding of L3 network.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Strong interpersonal skills to work with internal team members.
•A good understanding of the design methodologies and protocols used by service providers to build converged IP networks, including IS-IS, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, LDP, RSVP, L2/L3 VPN, Traffic Engineering.
Understanding and experience with Scripting.
•Ethernet / IP / Optical knowledge and experience.
•Solaris, RedHat Linux, HPUX is desirable. 
•Knowledge and experience of Nokia (fAlcatel-Lucent) and Juniper routers, switches is desirable.

Business Operations Skills – Qualifications:
• BSc Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent.
• Cisco CCNA or JNCIA certification.
