Role Category - the way you'll work:

This role is categorised as a roam role. Roaming roles are a mixture of home and hub working with, in some instances, a degree of being out and about delivering services to customers. Your working day will be determined by what you need to do and where you need to go to maximise your productivity. This means that you could start and finish your day in different places depending on what you need to do, so we’ll support you working from a variety of locations. 

The Role:

As our new Head of Land you’ll be a key appointment to the Development directorate to support the successful delivery of our Strategic Partner status with Homes England. Supported by the Land & Planning Director, this opportunity will see you taking ownership of the end-to-end process, overseeing land budgets, targets and strategy for identifying new development opportunities across the North. 

You will lead, inspire and mentor the land team, as well as working closely with our in-house teams across design, planning, commercial, construction and sales. You’ll also build strong relationships with landowners and agents throughout the North East and Yorkshire. 

Proactive in identifying land opportunities, you’ll play a pivotal role in producing target locations and programmes for delivery, presenting qualified opportunities to the leadership team and board, as well as negotiating and producing legal agreements and undertaking detailed reviews of opportunities. You’ll also carry out site appraisals and assessment of their suitability, and ensure all opportunities are researched and data collated. 

You’ll remain close to all sites agreed as they progress through planning and technical, supporting the teams to overcome any potential issues as they progress through the development stages.

The Person:

This is a fantastic opportunity for either a Land Manager looking to take the next step in their career or a proven Head of Land wanting to join a company who are ready and motivated to bring development opportunities forward.

We’re looking for someone with previous experience delivering land acquisition programmes in the North. You will have an in-depth knowledge of the local market, towns, sites, and opportunities, with your own networks and contacts.

You’ll have the ability to influence decisions using appropriate methods and facts and effective negotiation, communication, and organisational skills. As someone who is analytical, a driven individual with a hunger for success, you will enjoy meeting targets, overcoming challenges and, most importantly, supporting your team to do the same.
