This role is categorised as an operative role. This means that you are likely to move around from site-to-site or property-to property more often, depending on the work needed to be done. You won’t necessarily have a permanent work base as you’ll probably be able to travel from home to your site. You’ll be advised about your work location where needed.
We’re looking for two Joiners to join our Repairs and Maintenance team on a permanent basis. You'll be responsible for ensuring high quality repairs and maintenance are carried out to ensure our homes are of the highest standard for our customers. You will be predominantly working in the Tees Valley (Hartlepool, Stockton and Middlesbrough) but you may be required to travel outside of these areas on occasions.
We want to provide the best service to our customers, so we have implemented the ‘TradePlus’ scheme. A ‘TradePlus’ colleague is one who is trained in a number of supplementary skills, in varying trades, in addition to their base trade. It is essential you’re confident in basic aspects of most trade groups. A multi-skilled workforce allows our services to be as efficient as possible, by reducing the number of visits required to turn around our void properties. This is aimed at ensuring we enhance our customers’ experiences at the same time as ensuring value for money.
In addition to holding the required skills linked to your base trade, you’ll be able to demonstrate your ability and/or willingness to undertake all additional skills required of a Trade Plus operative. In return, we’ll provide you with TradePlus training.
As a Joiner, you must be time served or have relevant experience and be educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in joinery. A full UK driving licence without restriction is also essential.
We’re looking for someone with experience of domestic repair and maintenance and ideally within social housing, although this is not essential. You'll be confident in all aspects of domestic joinery as well as being a strong multi-skilled worker.
You should have a strong understanding of the relevant health and safety legislation and be a strong ambassador of safe working practices within your team.
You'll also be prepared to join our call out team when necessary, working on a rota to support our customers out of hours for emergency repairs.
