Efficient and effective IT systems are essential to the effective operation of a law firm like Thrings. The IT team keeps our Fee Earners and the supporting Business Services teams connected whether we're in the office, working from home or on the move.

In this role, you will be the first point of contact for users' IT and Business Support requests, logging queries and ensuring response-handling is done in a timely manner.  First line support is to be provided to users, and if you can’t help then there will be other team members to escalate the call too or if it falls outside the remit of IT then the Business Support teams as appropriate.

To be our next Helpdesk Support Assistant you would ideally have at least 1 years experience in a 1st Line HelpDesk Support role; preferably gained within the Legal sector or from a professional services firm.  We recognise that you may not have this, so if you don’t have this experience, but do have a qualification in a relevant discipline and are keen to put this into practice then we would love to hear from you.  Our IT team is responsible for everything information systems-related so you’ll get to be involved in a variety of tasks, there are three main streams of the tasks you will get involved in, including:

  • Technical support: IT HelpDesk, asset management (including laptops and mobile devices) and technical training
  • Infrastructure: networks and systems, servers (physical and virtualised), disaster recovery, business continuity and IT security
  • Development: acquiring appropriate business applications for the Fee Earning and business services functions.

While the roles within IT may vary, all involve providing the very best service and systems.  You may also have the opportunity to work closely with relevant stake holders and the firm’s software providers to help with the implementation of projects across the firm.

To succeed in this role, you will have a strong focus on both internal and external client service, understand that time is of the essence, and therefore be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and organisation skills.  You will have a positive and friendly approach to all users and be able to come up with creative solutions and see beyond complexity to identify the core issues facing the business.   In return, we can offer a rewarding career at the forefront of the legal and IT professions, with significant scope for professional development.

If this sounds like the role for you, or if you would like some more information, please do get in touch with a member of our HR team.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.  If you require any reasonable adjustments as part of the recruitment process or when employed, then do let us know.
