Thrings is a vibrant expanding law firm with a diverse client base offering excellent career prospects to talented and driven individuals.  We operate in offices in Bristol, Bath, London, Swindon and Romsey, serving clients within the UK, but increasingly with an international presence.

We’re a client focussed firm who has award winning lawyers working for us.  We’re noted by Chambers & Partners for the relationships we’ve built with our clients, and the increasing presence we’re building in the markets and clients we serve.  We provide a range of services to different clients in areas such as Agriculture, Private Client, Corporate & Commercial and Commercial Property and are noted for having specialists that practice in each of these areas.  We work across offices, with different practice areas to best serve the needs of our clients.

As a result of expanding our team to meet the needs of our clients, Thrings are looking for a 2 - 4+ PQE Contentious Wills and Probate Solicitor to join our Dispute Resolution team based in Swindon, but serving all the firm’s offices.  Working directly with a senior Associate Solicitor, you will have  assisted with contentious wills and probate claims in the past and handled claims from the early pre-action stages through to court proceedings having been issued.  An understanding of basic Wills, trusts and Estate Administration would assist (either gained by experience during your training contract or  as an NQ), although is not essential.

You’ll be able to demonstrate that you’re a driven Solicitor with a real passion for working in Contentious Probate, and alongside the Firm’s Wills and Probate Practice across all our offices.   Good client relationship and people skills will be essential, as you will be hands on with our clients and referrers from the start.

Working as part of a niche team it will be key that you’re a self starter, but are also able to work with the team to help contribute to the growth in Contentious Probate.   From day one you will be running your own caseload but you will also get experience of supporting with some complex estate disputes that are managed by our Associate Solicitor.  It is a great role for someone who is looking to develop their skills and experience but has a broad understanding to start with.

To excel in this role you will ideally be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Dealing with claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act
  • Claims challenging the validity of a will, based on capacity or undue influence
  • Contentious Estate Administration, including disagreements between beneficiaries or issues with Executors in the performance of their duties
  • Claims arising from breach of Trustee/Executor duties
  • Professional negligence claims arising from the drafting or wills or poor estate administration
  • Advising charities about claims that affect their legacy income
  • TOLATA claims in context of estate administration.

By joining Thrings you’re joining an ever growing Firm; we have experts who serve clients in a variety of industries and Practice in many different areas of Law.  We’re keen to recruit and retain the right talent to help us grow and develop as a Firm.  We’re a Top 100 Law Firm with offices in Swindon, Bristol, Bath, London & Romsey; with award winning teams it’s clear to see why people want to work with us
