Thrings is a vibrant expanding law firm with a diverse client base offering excellent career prospects to talented and driven individuals. We operate in offices in Bristol, Bath, London, Swindon and Romsey, serving clients within the UK, but increasingly with an international presence.
We’re a client focussed firm who has award winning lawyers working for us. We’re noted by Chambers & Partners for the relationships we’ve built with our clients, and the increasing presence we’re building in the markets and clients we serve. We provide a range of services to different clients in areas such as Agriculture, Private Client, Corporate & Commercial and Commercial Property and are noted for having specialists that practice in each of these areas. We work across offices, with different practice areas to best serve the needs of our clients.
Thrings are looking for a motivated, commercially minded IP/IT Lawyer to join the commercial team, working primarily from our Bristol office. Ideally you’ll be at least 5 years PQE but technical skills and an understanding of the importance of client care is what matters in finding our new team member. An interest in emerging technologies both in how they affect the practice of law as well as how they impact our clients would be beneficial. Working with the Head of Commercial and our IP litigation partner you will have an opportunity to influence, shape and contribute to our IP and Technology strategy.
Regarded as the ‘go to’ non-contentious IP specialist within Thrings, you’ll be providing focused, commercial advice to our clients on brand protection matters including acquisition/registration, maintenance, defence and enforcement of all IP rights. You will also draft, review and negotiate IP documentation such as licences, assignments and franchise agreements and supervise our trade mark team.
On the IT side, you will work with a broad range of clients from assisting global corporates with their IT procurement, to working with growing companies on the commercialisation of their technology. With a newly created Blockchain Team, Thrings is starting to set the benchmark for skilled legal advice in emerging technology including in relation to Blockchain, AI and big data. In preparation for the fifth era, Thrings is teaching its lawyers how to code, in order to enable them to view clients’ challenges and the related technology solutions through a new lens. You will have an opportunity to be involved with this growing area.
Building relationships within and outside the Firm you will work with our wider Commercial & Corporate team who have many individuals noted by Chambers & Partners for their work.
Although we undertake high quality work for progressive clients, there is a strong internal commitment to ensuring a good work life balance. There is no ‘face-time’ culture, and flexible remote working is undertaken by many of our employees with a pervasive support for family time. With an excellent flexible benefits package which you can tailor for you and your family, we commit to fully taking care of our employees and their wellbeing.
