Success for the Consumer PR team depends upon our ability to connect an excellent understanding of market insights with strong working relationships with national media and global digital influencers in order to generate impactful media coverage that effectively engages key consumer groups.

The post-holder will support the PR Manager in devising high profile successful PR campaigns in the UK, by leading on strategic high-risk PR projects – setting targets, devising and implementing campaigns, PR stunts, events and monitoring results.

Managing proactive and reactive press office function for UK & Ireland, the post-holder will have responsibility for proactively developing relationships with key English and national media, and key digital influencers.

 

Knowledge/Skills and Experience:
  • Graduate calibre with proven experience of working in a PR team (in house or agency) is essential
  • Experience of running successful PR campaigns, of working with UK national media and working on online media campaigns
  • Strong network of relationships with UK media and knowledge of UK media landscape
  • Excellent ability to develop a news angle and first rate writing skills
  • A creative flair and keen eye for detail
  • Excellent knowledge of Scotland the destination
  • Experience of working with PR agencies
  • Experience of working with London-based media and online outlets
  • Project management & budgetary skills
  • Excellent networking skills  and the ability to persuade and influence media to pick up VisitScotland PR stories/campaign hooks
  • Strong time management skills
  • Works well under pressure and in fast-paced news environment
  • Media trained (preferable)
