Junior HR Advisor – Employee Relations

Location: Hybrid - Lichfield
Department: Human Resources
Reporting to: Senior HR Advisor


About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and organised Junior HR Advisor – Employee Relations to join our HR team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your HR career while gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of employee relations matters.

You’ll play a key role in supporting managers, coordinating HR activity, and managing lower-level ER cases, ensuring a consistent and compliant approach in line with company policy and employment law.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the HR inbox, prioritising queries and directing cases appropriately across the HR team
  • Prepare and issue daily staff reports and HR case updates
  • Act as a point of contact for managers, providing guidance on:
    • Disciplinary and grievance matters
    • Absence management (short and long-term)
    • Performance and probation reviews
    • Flexible working requests
  • Manage lower-level employee relations cases from start to finish
  • Support managers with absence processes, including Occupational Health referrals where appropriate
  • Flag high-risk or safeguarding concerns to senior HR colleagues
  • Take minutes and support formal HR meetings
  • Prepare documentation including investigation packs, invite letters, and outcome letters
  • Maintain accurate HR records and update case management systems
  • Support DBS processes, including referrals and risk assessments
  • Assist with HR reporting, projects, and training delivery
  • Keep up to date with employment legislation and HR best practice

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about building a career in HR
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to prioritise effectively
  • Confident communicating with managers and colleagues
  • Able to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Proactive and keen to learn in a fast-paced environment

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous HR or administrative experience (ideally within an HR environment)
  • Understanding of employee relations processes (desirable)
  • Strong IT skills and ability to use HR systems
  • Knowledge of UK employment law (basic understanding desirable)
  • CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) is advantageous
