About the Role

As councils in Norfolk continue to navigate the changing landscape of local government, we are seeking a proactive and strategic individual to join our team as the Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) Policy Advisor.

Supporting the council’s response to LGR and Devolution, you will provide high-quality policy analysis, develop strategic briefing materials and contribute to the design and delivery of effective governance and partnership arrangements. You will work closely with senior officers, elected members and external stakeholders to ensure the council’s interests are well represented and our communities benefit from the opportunities of change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyse and advise on policy developments related to LGR and devolution
  • Support cross-council coordination to ensure readiness for governance and structural changes
  • Engage with regional partners, government bodies and neighbouring authorities
  • Ensure a strong evidence base underpins all policy recommendations
  • Work with service areas to develop service-specific policies to ensure an effective transfer into the new unitary authority

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • A strong understanding of local government structures, policy and devolution
  • Excellent research, analytical and policy development skills
  • Strong political awareness and the ability to work in a complex, fast-moving environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience of producing reports and briefings for senior audiences
  • The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.

If this opportunity looks perfect for you, we would love you to apply!
