Job Description

Triage / Administrative Officer

Initial salary between £27423 and £29932 per annum– plus cost-of-living increase

Based at King Court Council Offices, Kings Lynn

We have a new opportunity for a calm, customer‑focused and highly organised individual to join the Housing Options team as a Triage / Administrative Officer. As the first point of contact for people approaching the council for housing advice or homelessness support, you will play a vital role in assessing initial presentations, gathering essential information and helping ensure residents receive the right support quickly and sensitively.

As part of a team, you will complete initial interviews, assess risk, triage enquiries, manage the Housing Needs Duty inbox. You work closely with and provide support to the Housing Options Officers. You will also support key administrative functions across Housing Options and Homechoice, from processing invoices and maintaining records, to assisting with applications, booking temporary accommodation, collating documents and supporting statutory processes including FOI requests.

You will have strong communication skills, empathy, resilience and the ability to work confidently in often sensitive or emotionally charged situations. You will need excellent IT skills, a methodical approach and the confidence to prioritise and problem‑solve independently. If you enjoy varied work with real impact for local residents, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute at the frontline of our Housing Needs Service.
