Flying the flag for West Norfolk
Up to £40,500
Steeped in history and with connections right back to the era of King John, West Norfolk is a fascinating place for tourists to visit. The medieval Hanseatic town of King’s Lynn boasts the oldest Guildhall in the country, while visitors can also choose to explore the Sandringham Estate – the much-loved retreat of Her Majesty the Queen.
Joining the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk as our Destination Manager, you will take responsibility for increasing the value of the local economy by raising the profile of our area as a destination for tourists, as well as investors from both the public and private sectors. You will oversee the work of two team members, as you promote our locations and heritage, sports, events and festivals. We will also expect you to develop our digital marketing strategy to ensure the widest possible impact.
It’s an ambassadorial role, which requires you to reach out to businesses, residents and other stakeholders, such as destination marketing organisations. You’ll therefore be a strong communicator with good interpersonal skills, who has previous experience of working in a local government environment.
Your track record in creating and implementing destination marketing strategies will be matched by your ability to deliver effective digital campaigns. It’s essential that you have experience of budget and team management, along with a degree in a relevant subject area and, ideally, membership of the Tourism Management Institute or appropriate professional body.
