We are thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity for a Financial Modelling Manager to join our team in Financial Modelling. In this role, you’ll build and maintain Pricing and Planning models.

This is an exciting time to join the team, as the Society embarks on an ambitious growth plan. Financial Modelling will be at the heart of enabling that growth through transforming the Finance modelling landscape.

This is a hybrid role with a minimum of one day a week of onsite presence in our central Leeds office.

This is a fixed term contract – 9 months.


About the role


As Financial Modelling Manager, you will:

  • Design, develop and deliver new models and model redevelopments to support decision-making of the Society’s Finance & Commercial teams

  • Provide strong support and challenge to Analysts and Senior Analysts within the team as they perform model developments and reviews, ensuring key decisions within the development are being made appropriately and efficiently

  • Assume responsibility for establishing robust control and review frameworks to bring greater assurance to each stage of the model development lifecycle, reducing model risk

  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management with teams across Balance Sheet Management, Finance, Treasury and Commercial to ensure that appropriate knowledge and understanding of the models and their use is in place

  • Work closely with Technical Lead Manager to provide the best opportunities for development and growth in the team

  • Manage requests from within the business for analysis and model outputs to support their activities e.g. new mortgage proposition assessments


About you


  • We work with many different teams across the business and at various levels of seniority which means that you’ll need to be personable, concise & assertive in how you communicate

  • There’ll be plenty to learn about the Society and our models, so having an appetite for learning is key

  • You’ll have experience of building pricing or forecasting models

The following knowledge and skills are desirable to excel but can be developed on in the role:

  • Good knowledge of cash flows, mortgages, savings and the finance processes within a building society or bank, and how these can be modelled

  • Knowledge of financial model methods and techniques, such as Return on Capital (RoC)

  • Experience of data manipulation using SQL (or equivalent such as R or Python) and Microsoft Excel

  • Experience of using balance sheet management systems, such as, QRM
