An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner to join our Business Performance team.  You will use your excellent business partnering skills to build strong working relationships with our Mortgage team in order to provide insightful financial analysis, support and challenge in relation to commercial trading activities, enabling the Group to make well informed decisions leading to future growth, stability and profitability.

What You'll Do

You will use your business partnering skills effectively to understand the commercial drivers and strategy your business area.  You’ll apply your commercial knowledge in order to provide insightful analysis, advice and challenge on performance and upcoming opportunities whilst also flagging risks and agreeing actions to mitigate them.

Educating the business on their functional accountabilities highlighting how you can add value, build strong working relationships and the ability to build your credibility quickly.  Sharing specialist and market knowledge, which may impact the business, to ensure we are continuously improving and providing a positive customer journey.  

Proactively drive improvement, managing the development and maintenance of effective and efficient processes and systems improving forecasting and identifying opportunities to streamline and automate process.

Driving commercial thinking to improve decision making, challenging the business on process, approach and submissions to ensure better outcomes for the Group and challenge behaviour that puts achieving longer term plans at risk.

Acting as our trusted advisor by providing financial input that informs the debate and strategic thinking/plans.  Acting as finance SME enabling the business to track progress towards targets and supporting the customer to understand commercial targets in order to increase profitability.

Anticipate challenges from the business.  Translate the Business Performance strategy of reducing reporting/handle turning and increasing insight to allow the business to better understand why changes/requests are made.

Supporting your business areas through key periods of change and transformation programmes from a finance perspective, suggesting ways we can continuously improve our customer experience. 

How You’ll Do It

•    Accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or equivalent (Min of 3 years PQE) or qualified by relevant experience.
•    Strong business partnering skills preferably gained from partnering mortgage teams, with the ability to form strong working relationships quickly.
•    Ability to proactively identify and deliver process improvement and positive change.
•    Clear understanding of banking profitability and pricing with an ability to utilise that in day to day review of proposals.
•    Able to review, manage and develop new financial and analytical models.
•    Knowledge of corporate/business planning processes.
•    Knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance, corporate governance, quality assurance and risk management with the ability to identify and address key risks/implications.
•    Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and make time sensitive commercial decisions.
•    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to converse effectively with key stakeholders.
•    Self-starter and work with your own initiative and ability to proactively identify an opportunity to improve.
•    Excellent attention to detail and report writing skills. 
•    Rigorous, methodical and well organised with excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver to deadline.
