As our next Compliance Monitoring & Oversight Associate you’ll have a strong background in Financial Services compliance, and will join a likeminded and highly experienced team in our Leeds City Centre Compliance function – once social lockdown measures are lifted.

What You'll Do 

  • Follow the defined compliance methodology, and use your demonstrable skills to design and deliver end to end assurance activities, including productions of reports, stakeholder engagement, and agreement of actions.

  • Assess and challenge evidence submitted to close remedial actions identified through monitoring activity.   

  • Identify opportunities for change to improve departmental and Society wide practices, by encouraging and providing constructive, actionable feedback and challenge.  

  • Support Compliance Management with the development and coordination of Committee reporting, including liaison with relevant contributors and attendance at Committees from time to time.


Skills Required

  • Experience of assessing the drivers of conduct risks using your investigative skills and strong current regulatory knowledge.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to deliver complex messages to a range of stakeholders.

  • Detailed knowledge of the practical and pragmatic application of the relevant Financial Services regulations and regulatory expectations, relating to mortgages; savings; data protection & privacy; advice distribution; vulnerable customers; Financial Crime and Payments.

  • Experience of following and developing risk management practices and quality assurance.

  • Experienced in building and maintaining relationships with a range of colleagues across all levels of the Society.

  • Work with colleagues across Compliance, and other risk assurance functions within the Three Lines of Defence, to ensure collaborative approaches are taken to oversight. 

  • Takes personal accountability for the delivery of activities within defined timescales, through the use of strong organisational and time management skills, and working collaboratively with others.    

  • Understanding of commercial and operational priorities to support pragmatic and supportive solutions to risks identified.
