YBS is looking for a software development engineer to join the API/Open Banking team. You will be delivering and supporting projects from across the group using our API Gateway (Google Apigee). This work will cover everything from build to support for regulatory work streams such as PSD2/Open Banking to application integrations. You’ll join our Leeds based Technology Delivery function (but with working from home capability).

We are open to discussions with junior level software engineers, recent graduates, but all we ask is you need to be able to demonstrate a passion for Digital software engineering and have awareness of modern engineering practices and technologies.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, document, and test (in an automated way) software and configuration ensuring they adhere to development standards and meet requirements.

  • Work on implementing automated build pipelines and monitoring capabilities.

  • Participate and lead peer reviews of documentation, code, unit and integration testing

  • Collaborate with colleagues from all over the group including Tech leads, architects, analysts, scrum master and product owners to perform impact analysis and estimation on requirements and designs.

  • Ensure that system design meets the current design standards, is appropriate for current architecture and meets future architecture and infrastructure requirements.

  • Provide out of hours support for services.

How You’ll Do It

  • Have hands on experience or knowledge of a number of the following software skill sets: Swagger, Spring Boot,  JSON, Python (Pytest), Vue.js and XML

  • Desirable skills include:

    • Restful Design, working with API Gateway products (Google Apigee or equivalent)

    • Containers and Container Orchestration - Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift

    • Continuous Integration Pipelines - Gitlab, Jenkins

    • Security (Oauth, OWASP, Certificates, JWT, Encryption techniques)

    • Knowledge, understanding and experience of DevOps software delivery methodologies and the application of them using tools like JIRA, Confluence, Gitlab and Jenkins.

    • Knowledge of Open Banking and the platform they provide.

  • Demonstrable experience within a modern software engineering role.

  • Strong knowledge of modern technologies and platforms used within digital applications.
