An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Services Solicitor to join our Legal team. You will provide commercially aware, forward looking, efficient and effective legal services in relation to retail financial services and products, with particular reference to mortgages and property law, to relevant functions across YBS.

The Legal team are currently working from home so you will start your journey with us being home based with some potential travel to our Leeds office; going forward we will adopt a blended way of working with a mix of home and office working.
What You'll Do
Providing expert and strategic legal advice on a timely basis as required across YBS with particular emphasis on advising upon financial services law and regulation, including mortgage products. Experience of advising upon the legal and regulatory regimes with regard to mortgages and property law is essential since this will be a key element of the role.
Along with other lawyers in the team you will have responsibility for drafting, reviewing, maintaining and advising upon product related terms and conditions and other relevant customer documentation and associated material across the Group and regularly reviewing to ensure ongoing compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
A key part of the role will be advising on transactional product queries whilst working with stakeholders to improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes involving referrals to the legal team.
You will use your excellent stakeholder management skills as our trusted business partner to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and business partners to embed a legally compliant culture. Working collaboratively across the business in an agile way to be the best you can be in your role.
You will be an innovative thinker, someone who is aware of what is happening in the financial services sector and how this may affect our business, customers and our products.
You will be someone who is always looking for ways we can improve and engaging with key people across the business and challenging effectively.
How You’ll Do It
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience (PQE) in financial services law.
• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, Legal Executive or other relevant legal qualification.
• Mortgage and property law experience.
• Understanding of how financial services organisations operate and the associated regulatory environment.
• Utilisation of excellent written and oral communication skills to build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Personally take on learnings and feedback constructively to take ownership for your own development and taking ownership to ensure your knowledge is maintained.
• Experience of advising of digital solutions and how they affect the business would be an advantage, but not essential.
