We’re on a journey to expand our Information Management and Design team to transform YBS into a modern, data-driven organisation and as a result we’re looking for three Data Governance Consultants (internally known as BIS Data Governance Consultants). As our new Data Governance Consultants you’ll be a key member and important intermediary between the data owners, data consumers and the broader BI Information Management and Design Team. You’ll also deliver governance and improve traceability, and accurate data used across data stores and within BI Solutions, driving towards Single Version of Truth. You’ll join a likeminded team in our Leeds and Bradford based Information Management and Design function.

What You'll Do

  • Review data quality issues, data flows, perform analysis, document in governance catalogues, recommend fixes where issues found, and/or report timely any breaches of thresholds to Data Owners, Data Consumers, and escalate as needed to Information Management Risk Forum (IMRF) / Enterprise Data Governance

  • Document and manage data lineage as well as carry out data maintenance tasks against key IMD data stores

  • Maintain master, meta and reference data definitions within the YBS data governance tools

  • Identify and manage data issues and requests being reported (triage, resolve, monitor and liaise with stakeholders)

  • implement data quality rules on behalf of business stakeholders in the context of data quality (build rules, work with Technical colleagues to encode tests, identify gaps in controls, maintain data quality store and communicate metrics)

  • Administer and assure of IMD RSCA controls and IMD governance tools

  • Maintain report catalogue, dictionary of reporting metrics and all other relevant documentation

  • Collaborate with data owners, data stewards, business users and Information Management team members and IT support staff on the adoption and ongoing implementation of best practices across the organisation and remediation of BI data quality issues.

Skills Required

  • Good understanding of the data development lifecycle from data inception (source) to Insight/reporting output

  • Understanding of the data analysis, transformations, mapping and profiling

  • Experience of cataloguing data items and types

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management abilities including senior stakeholders

  • Knowledge of using BI technologies i.e. Business Objects, Tableau

  • Understanding of data stores and flow of data between systems and within BI solutions from inception through to output

  • Knowledge of Information Governance Tools i.e. IBM IGC
