An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Modelling Analyst to join the Balance Sheet Management function. In Model Management & Development we work with all areas of BSM and the wider Treasury and Finance teams to understand the income, value and risk inherent in the balance sheet. Ultimately giving the business the tools required to make informed business decisions. In this role you’ll directly contribute to one of the Society’s strategic priorities, so it’s a great time to join. 

Please note that this is a 24 month fixed term contract role.

About the role
As a valued member of our modelling team you will support the testing, use and maintenance of balance sheet models developed within the team. 

In this role you will support the development, testing and ongoing management of the Society’s income, value and risk models. These models include many important business areas, such as Financial Planning, Market and Liquidity Risk, Stress Testing and Product Pricing. Therefore, you’ll have a real opportunity to learn and develop in this role. 

•    Supporting the daily use of all models developed within the team to ensure they continue to produce accurate and timely results.
•    Assist in development and improvement of existing and new models and data processes.
•    Produce and optimise model monitoring reports to ensure models remain fit for purpose.
•    Evaluating and documenting existing models to meet the Society’s model governance standards.
•    Bring your own ideas and experience to how we build financial models to ensure the team’s output is constantly improving.

Each of these areas will involve working closely with other teams within the Balance Sheet Management and Finance departments, so building and nurturing these relationships will be an important aspect of the role.

About you 
•    Educated to degree level or equivalent preferably in Mathematics / Statistics / Finance or relevant analytical experience in current role.
•    Experience of data manipulation using SQL (or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel.
•    Effective communication skills both verbally and written. 
•    Understand, or have a strong desire to learn, the key drivers of a building societies balance sheet, including the risks and how to model these risks along with a continuous improvement mindset.
