Job Advert
“I have to say living on the Isle of Man exceeded my expectations and it is a beautiful place to live and work.
I like how it offers a varied workload in a small close knit team, where I can use a range of different skills. No two days are the same and the team community is so supportive.
That is an ideal platform on which to build. My lifestyle is excellent with a better work-life balance”
Louise, Supervising Social Worker who recently relocated to the Island!
About the role and our team
You’ll be joining our supportive and friendly close-knit team based in Douglas.
The caseloads are low especially in comparison to other areas in the UK, and the responsibilities are diverse, as there is a dual role on the team of both fostering and adoption.
Your day could include assessment work, supervision visits and care planning meetings, to Looked After child reviews. You will also be taking part in the day and out of hours duty system and providing support to colleagues. We have strong links with the childcare teams and they are based in the same building.
You’ll receive our support from day 1 - we'll help you relocate, settle in and ensure you have what you need to excel in your new role, with a full induction package and training.
What can this role offer me?
We value development and training and you’ll be able to develop your skills and experience in areas such as family finding, SGO assessment and support and matching.
We’re also a really flexible service - the team work within a therapeutic trauma based model, which is reflected in the assessment process and in the initiative that is currently being piloted in the fostering community; this is The Fostering Network’s Mockingbird Family Model. This model provides a hub carer and a constellation of foster carer’s that offer peer support and continued stability to children and young people.
