About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Payroll and Pensions Officer to join our Payroll and Pension team. This is a vital role where your work has a direct impact on all the members of Derbyshire Fire and Rescue service. You will be responsible for maintaining employee pay records from employment commencement to leaving/retirement. This will include dealing with starters, leavers, and contractual changes, and any aspect of the individuals employment relating to their pay (e.g. overtime payments, sickness absence, maternity leave, salary sacrifices, allowances and deductions).
You will have knowledge of income tax, national insurance, and statutory payments (such as SMP, SPP) and be able to interpret and apply national terms and conditions and local policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications and Experience
• Experience in calculating gross to net pay
• Excellent numeracy and high level of attention to detail
• Experience in using payroll systems / software
• Demonstrable recent experience in a payroll / pension role
• Ability to work methodically taking responsibility for own work and to work as part of a team
