Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service are now accepting transfer applications from competent Wholetime Firefighters who are currently working for a UK Fire & Rescue Service. We are looking for applicants who are committed to pursuing a career within a forward-thinking Fire & Rescue Service.
In the 2018/2019 HMICFRS inspection the Service was rated as ‘Good’ across all three areas of inspection and ‘Outstanding’ for the values and culture across the Service.
Our People First approach to both our communities and our employees has recently been recognised with the Service receiving an Outstanding Workplace Award 2021, in addition to being named as a Top 50 Inclusive Employer.
DFRS divides its’ Service Delivery into three geographical areas and successful transfer-in applicants will be working with both operational and professional support colleagues to Make Derbyshire Safer Together.

Essential Entry Requirements
In order to apply candidates must meet the following criteria;
- Be a permanent, competent wholetime firefighter currently employed within a UK Fire & Rescue Service
- Have a Full UK Manual Car Driving Licence
- Be able to pass a swimming test (continuous swim of at least 100 metres unaided followed by 1 minute of treading water)
- Confirm flexibility to work across duty systems
Desirable Entry Requirements
- Emergency Response Driver (ERD) / Large Goods Vehicle qualification
- IFE Level 2 Certificate

The intention is for the successful candidates to commence in Service with DFRS in Early April 2022.
A basic disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be requested for successful applicants.
