As part of our forward looking succession plans, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service are excited to announce we are looking to recruit a Fire Safety Inspecting Officer for the role of Prosecutions Lead within our Protection Policy Team working 18.5 hours per week.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is a high achieving, dynamic and forward thinking organisation and as part of this recruitment process we will be looking for positive, talented and motivated individuals who will be able to help shape and develop all aspects of fire safety enforcement in the years to come. This will ensure that the level of service and fire safety protection offered to the people of Derbyshire continues to be of the highest standard.
As one of our Fire Safety Inspecting Officers you will work with members of the public, diverse community groups and businesses across Derbyshire to provide advice and reduce the risk from fires. As well as undertaking consultations and providing assistance, you will ensure that owners and occupiers of buildings comply with current fire safety regulations, sometimes in challenging situations. Therefore a confident, enthusiastic and professional attitude is essential, along with excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
A knowledge and understanding of the broad aims of risk based fire safety legislation and the principles of risk based management is required along with experience and/or knowledge of preparing and collating evidence and court processes with regard to fire safety enforcement work.
You will be part of our HQ based Policy team working with other Fire Safety Inspecting Officers to provide support and guidance for our Protection delivery teams with a lead role in prosecution work. You will be developed within the role and have the opportunity to progress through the career progression criteria. You will be required to attend training (sometimes residential) in and out of Derbyshire as and when instructed to do so.
Further details about the role can be found in the Job Description and Person Specification, please use link below.
The postholder will be required to work from various Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service locations as necessary and must hold a full driving licence. A pool car will be provided.
The normal working week is 18.5 hours over 3 days a week to meet the business need, however you may occasionally need to work beyond normal office hours and at evenings and weekends as required. In return we offer flexible working hours, family friendly policies, childcare vouchers, free car parking and eligibility to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
We are committed to equality and fairness at work and Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service are keen to hear from anyone with the ability to do this job to help us achieve a workforce as diverse as the communities that we serve.
Police security vetting procedures at the appropriate level will be requested for the successful applicant. Please note that, due to the nature of security checks undertaken, applicants must have 3 years continuous residency in the UK up to the date of the application and Home Office approval for indefinite leave to remain within the UK.
Applications should provide evidence of suitability against the person specification for the role. The closing date for completed applications is midnight on Sunday 21 June 2020. Interviews will hopefully be held during the week commencing the 29 June 2020.
