The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (“the Authority”) regulates firms engaged in financial activities, including insurance, pensions, banking, investments, fiduciary services and fund administration. The Authority is also responsible for oversight of anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) compliance for those involved in the financial sector as well as a range of other Designated Businesses and has oversight of compliance with the Beneficial Ownership Act 2017.

AML/CFT TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (EVALUATIONS SPECIALIST)

An exciting and dynamic opportunity has arisen at the Authority for the role of AML/CFT Technical Specialist (Evaluations Specialist) in the AML/CFT Supervision Division. This is a fantastic role in which to show and develop compliance supervision skills across a wide range of regulated financial services businesses and supervised designated businesses. The Authority is active with other Government agencies in wider developments across the IOM as we head towards an inspection of the Island’s AML/CFT effectiveness by MONEYVAL.

The Division is responsible for AML/CFT Policy, applying a risk-based approach and supervisory tools. This includes inspections to test and encourage firms’ levels of protection against money laundering or terrorist financing and compliance with beneficial ownership obligations. It is vital for the Island and its economy that key businesses understand the risks they may face and have robust defences in place to prevent use or abuse by money launderers or worse. It is also vital that the Island can show effective AML/CFT oversight of key businesses and sectors by regulators.

Extensive relevant industry experience in a regulatory, operational, compliance, assurance, risk or audit role is essential. The postholder will have experience in the development of policy and working within multi-agency groups and will demonstrate knowledge of the MONEYVAL/FATF Standards and Evaluation process (or other FATF-Style Regional Body) including previous experience of on-site evaluations. Ideally the candidate will be a trained international standards assessor either by FATF or a recognised FATF-Style Regional Body. The candidate will hold a professional qualification relevant to the prevention of financial crime.

This is an exceptional opportunity within a people focused organisation and applicants seeking flexible working arrangements are welcome.

The right candidate will bring the above skills and experience and in return working at the Authority will provide candidates with the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the development of the Isle of Man’s financial system;
  • Play an important role in the delivery of the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority’s diverse and important mandate;
  • Assist with the delivery of strategically important supervision work as part of a highly professional team;
  • Build a fulfilling career, reaching your full potential and feeling valued in an environment that supports diversity and inclusion;
  • Be part of a dynamic team where no two days are the same.

Our package includes:

  • Competitive salary
  • Defined benefit pension
  • Support for professional studies

  • 25 days annual leave
  • Flexible working scheme
