A unique opportunity has arisen for a Director of Communications for up to a 12-month limited term appointment. In this pivotal role, you will be accountable to the Executive Director of External Relations, strengthening the relationship between government and the people it serves.
As Interim Director of Communications you will provide strategic leadership, drive innovation, as well as devising and delivering change and ensure that communication is consistent, accessible, and aligned with policy priorities.
We are looking for an individual who can deliver a cross governmental programme of transformation whilst maintaining business as usual for government departments.

The Director of Communications will lead the transformation of government communications, ensuring that messages are clear, timely, and trusted amongst a diverse and segmented audience.
You will work directly with Ministers, senior officials, and departments to embed best practice and deliver impact across all channels.
What will you do?
The Interim Director of Communications will establish and lead the new Government Communication Service during its formative phase, ensuring strategic alignment, operational readiness, and delivery of key communication priorities. This role is critical for setting up governance, recruiting the leadership team, and launching initial campaigns.
