This role is a limited term appointment for 2 years.
What is the steering group?
The steering group is a group of people who monitor how the actions in the strategy are progressing. The Chairperson running the meetings will be sent updates from staff across Isle of Man Government every three months and the group will discuss the updates.
What will you be expected to do?
Members of the steering group:
- attend meetings;
- read progress reports and other documentation to prepare for each meeting;
- take part in discussions about the content of the progress reports;
- take part in discussions about the progress of the Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) strategy;
- share opinions on future actions suggested by other members of the group; and
- suggest actions that could be included in the strategy in the future.
Meetings can be attended via Teams, although face-to-face discussion is preferred.
There may be other duties relating to the meetings that are required in the future, these will be explained in advance of them happening.
How many lay members positions are there?
We are looking for up to 3 lay members. To be considered for these positions a person must:
- have an ASC diagnosis. Your diagnosis can be ASC, ASD, classic autism, autism, high-functioning autism, Asperger’s Syndrome or anything else that is considered part of ASC,
- be aged 18 or over,
- live on the Isle of Man.
