Lead the future of youth work on the Isle of Man
We are searching for a Senior Youth Worker with the skills and enthusiasm to shape practice, lead meaningful change and make a real difference for young people across the Isle of Man.
We are looking for an experienced practitioner who believes in the power of youth work, understands the importance of positive relationships with young people, and wants to help build a skilled and confident workforce.
Our Youth Service is all about creating “somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to” for young people across the Island. This is a real chance to help shape practice across the Island while supporting staff to deliver safe, engaging and meaningful opportunities for young people.
A unique professional development opportunity
We recognise that talented professionals who work with young people come from a range of backgrounds.
We welcome applications from talented professionals who work with young people across sectors including youth work, education, social care, health, early help, inclusion, the voluntary sector, youth justice and community services.
If you hold a relevant Level 3 qualification, have at least three years' experience working with young people, and can inspire and lead others, we'd like to hear from you.
If successful, you will be supported through a fully funded professional development pathway leading to a JNC-recognised Level 6 Youth Work qualification within three years. This investment, worth over £10,000, provides an excellent opportunity to become a professionally qualified and registered Youth Worker.
The Youth Service will provide:
- Funding for Level 6 Youth Work studies
- Professional mentoring and supervision
- Opportunities to gain experience across a range of youth work settings
- Support from experienced qualified youth work professionals
- Access to national networks and training opportunities

Lead, develop and inspire youth work across the Island
You will provide professional leadership across the Youth Service, support colleagues to understand and deliver high-quality youth work, and promote the values, ethics and principles that sit at the heart of the profession. The role description identifies that the post holder promotes recognised youth work values, principles and professional standards across the service.
You will lead island-wide initiatives including:
- Mobile youth provision and the Youth Bus
- Detached and outreach youth work
- Targeted programmes and intervention work
- Youth participation and youth voice
- Workforce development and training
- Residentials and international youth exchanges
- Partnership projects with schools, health, social care and third sector organisations
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same, combining hands-on youth work with strategic leadership of practice. You’ll help create opportunities that support young people to build confidence, develop skills and thrive in their communities.
