This role is term time, which means that the gross annual salary advertised will be reduced proportionately based on the number of weeks worked during the academic year. Term time employees are contracted to work 38 weeks per year.

Please note that the full time equivalent for this position is 37 hours, so roles advertised with contracted hours less than 37 will be classed as part time. The gross annual salary advertised will be reduced based on the part-time hours.

About the role

Ballakermeen High School is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable General Kitchen Assistant to join our busy and friendly catering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a lively school environment, supporting the delivery of a high-quality catering service for students and staff.

Working at the heart of the school, you will assist with food preparation, simple cooking and the service of snacks and main meals. You'll provide friendly and efficient customer service, encourage healthy food choices, operate the till and help ensure service runs smoothly during busy periods. Maintaining high standards of food hygiene will be essential, alongside cleaning kitchen areas, equipment and dining spaces to create a safe, clean and welcoming environment.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working as part of a team, thrives in a busy environment and can use their own initiative. The position involves a range of practical duties, including moving deliveries and stock, cleaning equipment and work areas, and being on your feet throughout the day, so applicants should be comfortable carrying out physically active tasks.
