About the role and our team

The Chief Constable is the most senior Police officer in the Isle of Man, responsible for leading the Isle of Man Constabulary, creating a vision and setting direction and culture that builds public and organisational confidence and trust, and enables the delivery of a professional, effective and efficient policing service.

Policing in a small jurisdiction with a small police force offers a unique blend of challenge and opportunity. The Isle of Man Constabulary is expected to deal with serious and organised crime, financial and economic crime as well as ensuring clear visibility and interaction in our communities. The Constabulary maintains armed response officers, a roads policing unit and a scenes of crime unit.

We are proud to say the Isle of Man is the safest place to live and work in the British Isles. Our data shows high confidence in the Isle of Man Constabulary, with crime accounts making up about 20% of overall demand for the police in the Island, officers are also attending to an increasingly complex range of vulnerability and public protection matters.

If you are interested in leading the Isle of Man Constabulary you will play a crucial role, providing the interface between the police and the Department of Home Affairs, responding to political scrutiny where necessary and speaking on matters of policing policy and operations.  You must also build strong effective relationships, locally and with partners in the UK and in other small jurisdictions, particularly the other Crown Dependencies.

You will be accountable for the operational delivery of policing services and the effective command and leadership of the policing response to crime, and major and critical incidents.
