About the Role

We are looking for motivated individuals to provide a professional service to customers using the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway over the 2022 summer season, which begins early 2022. You will need to possess excellent customer service skills, and be flexible in approach to working.

The positions available are:

Seasonal Horse Tram Driver

(Skill Zone 2/Pay Band 5) - £21,423 - £26,039 pro rata per annum

Within this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Driving the horse tram
  • Stopping at tram stops to pick up and drop off passengers, checking they are safely on board before resuming the journey
  • Keeping to a strict timetable, arriving at each stop on schedule
  • Looking after the welfare and safety of each tram horse when driving

Seasonal Horse Tram Conductor

(Skill Zone 1/Pay Band 2) - £20,402 - £22,393 pro rata per annum

Within this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Working in the passenger section of the tram, single or double-decker
  • Using an electronic ticket machine when issuing tickets and collecting fares
  • Preparing and checking of trams prior to them going into service each day
  • Answering queries about the route, fares and timetables

Seasonal Stable Hand

(Skill Zone 1/Pay Band 2) - £20,402 - £22,393 pro rata per annum

Within this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Grooming and feeding horses
  • Accompanying the tram horses from the stables to the trams at change times
  • Cleaning, feeding and attending to the general welfare of the tram horses
  • Mucking out, moving hay and sweeping of the yard
  • Give Guide Tours of the stables as and when required

The nature of the work means that you will need to be flexible in approach. Overtime, weekend work and unsociable hours and the necessity to work on Public Holidays are a requirement with the post for which enhanced rates of pay are applicable.
