We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Caretaker to join our fantastic team at Camberwell Park Specialist School
We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and proactive Caretaker to join our site team. This is a varied and rewarding role, essential to the smooth running of our school. The successful candidate will ensure the security, safety, cleanliness, and general maintenance of the school premises and grounds. You will also be a key holder and play a vital role in maintaining health and safety standards, supporting school events, and responding to site-related emergencies.
This is a permanent post working 35 hours per week, all year round. The starting salary is £26,403 Grade 4. This position involves working shift patterns and may include some evening or weekend responsibilities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- General repairs and site maintenance (inside and outside)
- Daily monitoring of health and safety, including fire safety checks
- Security of the school site, including acting as a key holder and monitoring CCTV (where applicable)
- Liaison with contractors and monitoring of their compliance with site regulations
- Supervision of cleaning staff and oversight of external cleaning contractors
- Grounds maintenance including litter picking and gritting during poor weather
- Setting up for school events such as exams and parents’ evenings
- Maintaining stock levels and ordering supplies
- Supporting lettings and school events outside of normal school hours
- Acting as a first aider (training provided if needed)
You will need to evidence:
- Previous experience of caretaker or similar role responsible for maintenance, cleaning, and repair tasks
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and hygiene regulations, understanding of COSHH requirements is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with staff, pupils, contractors, and visitors
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to undertake manual handling and caretaking duties
- Good ICT, literacy and numeracy skills with ability to keep accurate records
- Full driving licence is highly desirable
