Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant Level 4 (Safeguarding and Wellbeing) to join our fantastic team at MEA Central

This is a permanent role working 35 hours per week during term time only plus 5 INSET days, to start in September 2026. The pro-rata salary is £24,998 and the full-time equivalent is £29,064 (Grade 5).

About the Role

MEA Central is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Teaching Assistant Level 4 (Safeguarding and Wellbeing) to join our supportive and ambitious team. This is a vital role focused on promoting pupil wellbeing, safeguarding, and positive engagement, working closely with students who require additional emotional, behavioural, or pastoral support.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn, by contributing to safeguarding practice and delivering targeted wellbeing interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a safeguarding-focused support for pupils, working under the direction of senior staff and the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
  • Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement in learning
  • Deliver and support targeted interventions to meet individual pupil needs
  • Build trusted, professional relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Monitor and report concerns relating to safeguarding, welfare, or attendance in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, families, and external agencies
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews, reports, and meetings where required
  • Promote inclusivity and positive behaviour in line with the school’s values
