Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant Level 3 to join our fantastic team at Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA)

This is a Grade 4, permanent full time post working 35 hours per week, term time only. The starting salary is £21,441 and the full time equivalent starting salary is £25,584.

We’re looking for:
An experienced Teaching Assistant ideally with NVQ L3 qualification or higher, or equivalent experience. You will also need to have a and excellent numeracy and literacy skills, qualified to level 2 or equivalent/higher. You will be able to attend to children's personal needs, including pastoral, social, health, physical hygiene, minor first aid and welfare matters.

You will demonstrate a commitment to appropriate professional standards, including core policies relating to equality and diversity and child protection. You will require empathy and tact to build excellent interpersonal relationships with all stakeholders and embrace a collaborative approach focused on improvement and supporting the vision, values and objectives of the school.


Main purpose of the job:
To work collaboratively with all staff and parents to support pupil wellbeing and provide support in addressing the needs of pupils who require particular help to overcome barriers to learning. You will support access to learning and provide general support for the school in the management of pupils and resources, as directed by senior staff and ensure strategic processes are complied with in order to overcome barriers to learning, including e.g behaviour management strategies.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in the comprehensive assessment of pupils to determine those in need of particular help.
  • Assist the teacher with the development and implementation of individual Education/Behaviour/Support/Mentoring plans.
  • Provision of support for pupils with special needs.
  • Establish productive working relationships with pupils, taking on role model by presenting a positive personal image and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Develop 1:1 mentoring arrangements with pupils and provide support for distressed pupils.
  • Promote the speedy/effective transfer of pupils to make choices about their own learning/behaviour/attendance.
  • To support the performance management process and demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against predetermined learning objectives.
  • Take appropriate responsibility and action for safeguarding, be aware of confidential issues and maintain as appropriate.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
