We’re now looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team to proactively drive sales of a designated range of products within a geographical area, developing relationships with key stakeholders to generate demand through existing and new routes to market.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and action a customer focussed territory business plan with regard to a specific product range with consideration to
  • Building relationships & generating new business with contractors outside of current range
  • Interfacing with wider SIG Group to exploit opportunities through existing channels
  • Supporting OPCO sales community to maximise opportunities within existing customer base
  • Assist in the developing of marketing collateral and website development for Gemello and associated products.
  • Support NPD and Technical teams with product range development and improvement
  • Support sales teams with pricing and agree pricing policies for assigned products which ensures sales growth and supports gross margin position.
  • Monitor and review sales & margin across assigned products regularly, addressing shortfalls and areas of concern, whilst highlighting areas of opportunity to the business.
  • Monitor and chase open quotations, manage and maintain live opportunities with a view to converting to orders.
  • Maintain awareness of competitors pricing and actions and provide feedback using the sources available.
  • Attend regular sales meeting as and when required.
  • All weekly and monthly reporting to be completed accurately and on time – including CRM where appropriate
  • Establish effective call planning with a target to maintain and grow business
  • Where appropriate, take frontline involvement in credit and payment matters between customers and credit management.
  • Where required develop specifications for our products through architects and consulting engineers.
  • Awareness of, and adherence to, the SIG “Zero Harm” Health & Safety Regulations
  • Assist Opco Leads with product specific budget and sales planning.


What we’re looking for:

  • Educated to degree level (desirable, but not essential with relevant experience)
  • Experience within the relevant industry (essential)
  • Proven track record in delivering results and financial targetsStrong decision-making ability.
  • Successful sales experience and in-depth knowledge and understanding of the role of an effective sales function and best practices, together with the required supporting processes and tools – at an operational level
  • Strong business, commercial and financial acumen - supported by a pragmatic approach and not afraid to get into the detail when required
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to articulate the corporate vision and translate this in to effective strategic and operational plans, gaining clear agreement from stakeholders by influencing, convincing, persuading and negotiating
  • Strong understanding of project tracking and construction build process.
  • Ability to produce high quality and accurate reports in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Ability to forge and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Effective communicator and presenter – verbal and written, succinct and persuasive
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Has high performance standards for self and others
  • Full driving licence
  • Strong I.T skills – including Microsoft Office Strong / advanced level with Excel spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to work on own with minimum supervision
