Driver Class II / Warehouse
As Driver, you will be working in a safety critical role and be responsible for delivering to a schedule and working to timescales. You will be required to maintain good care of your vehicle, ensure all loads are secured, perform daily safety checks, and keep transport documents and paperwork updated.
This role will also include warehouse duties, As a Warehouse Operative you will be a key part of the day-to-day operations of the branch. Your role will focus on ensuring the receiving, storage, picking, and loading of stock is completed efficiently and accurately, contributing to the smooth running of the branch. You will work within a supportive and safety-focused environment, helping our team provide the best possible service to our customers.
What you will be doing:
- Receive and store goods accurately in the correct locations within the warehouse/yard.
- Prepare customer orders according to sales requirements and load them onto vehicles.
- Sign for deliveries, report stock breakages, and maintain accurate stock records.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment.
- Carry out daily checks and maintain forklifts and other mechanical handling equipment in a safe working condition.
- Promote a “Everyone Safe, Every Day,” culture by ensuring the safety of yourself and colleagues.
- Build positive relationships with customers at the collection and returns point.
- Be flexible and assist with stocktaking and overtime as required.
- Delivering goods safely and on time to customers in your area
- Securing all loads and completing daily vehicle checks
- Maintaining accurate transport documentation and delivery records
- Representing SIG in a friendly, professional manner at all times
What you'll bring:
- 7.5 Tonne Licence
- Valid CPC Card and Digi Tachograph card
- Experience in multi-drop driving for a delivery or distribution company
- A friendly, professional manner and dedicated to great customer service
- A valid Forklift Licence.
- Good data accuracy, numeracy, and basic IT skills.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or yard role is advantageous.
