It’s quick and easy to apply for a role at Cornerstone.   You can apply with an up to date CV, but if you don't have one don't worry, you can complete your employment history within the application.

Our Values are at the heart of everything we do here at Cornerstone, so whether you apply for a Support Practitioner role, or something more niche, you will be asked about how you demonstrate our four core values which are Caring, Person-Centred, Professional and Pioneering.  Please take your time to show us how you embody these Values in your every day life.

Our applications do have a 30 minute security time out, so when you come to the application questions section we recommend that you save your progress by clicking the 'Save and Continue' button regularly.  Another option would be to type your responses using an external medium such as MS Word before copying and pasting them into the relevant fields.

Some of our roles are high priority, so early applications are encouraged as we will review applications throughout the advertising period and reserve the right to close the advert early.

We’ll send you an email to let you know your application has arrived safely. If you haven’t received an email from us, check your junk or spam mailbox. If there’s still no email, please log back into your Careers portal to check the status and send again if it is showing unsubmitted.

We’ll always let you know whether you’ve been shortlisted or not. We receive a lot of applications, so unfortunately, we’re not able to give individual feedback if you’re not shortlisted

We understand that everyone makes mistakes, but this doesn't make a great first impression on a job application. Make sure to read through and check for typos. Or even better, ask someone else to proof read it for you.

Be you

Our Selection Process

If you’ve been shortlisted, we’ll contact you by phone to arrange your interview.

We’ll let you know the format of your interview and whether it will be in person or over video call.

Depending on the role you’ve applied for, there may be an initial screening call or we may ask you to complete an assessment, such as a role related written task as part of the process.  For more niche or senior roles, this may include a presentation.

The interview process is our chance to get to know you and to hear more about your values, skills, knowledge, and experience. We’ll ask you to talk us through examples of where you have demonstrated specific competencies or behaviours within the workplace or daily life.  We'll also want to tell us what appeals to you about the role and why you want to join Cornerstone.

We want you to get everything you need through our selection process too; it's a two way street, it's also your opportunity to get a feel for Cornerstone, the team you’d be working in, and ask any questions you have about the role and about working here.

We really value you taking the time to come and meet with us and we do offer feedback to all interviewed candidates whether you've been successful or not.

  • Practice.  Go through your examples and practice how you would talk about them. This will help you to can clearly make all the points you want to and demonstrate your skills.

  • Do your research. Learn about Cornerstone and the work that we do, particularly in relation to the role you are applying for.  If you can tell us a bit about us it will help to demonstrate your enthusiasm and motivation for joining our team.

  • Learn our Values. Make sure you know 'Our Values'.  Spend time understanding what they mean, how they relate to you personally and how you demonstrate these every day.

  • Be comfortable. Although we’re more interested in what you as a person will bring to our team, we do expect that you come to interview smartly dressed.  If your interview is by video call, think about testing your internet connection, microphone, and camera to make sure they are working ahead of the day. Find a quiet, private, well-lit place with a plain background.

  • Take your time. It's ok to allow yourself time to think of a good response. There's no harm in pausing before answering so you can provide a clear and concise example. If you're really  struggling to think on the spot, just ask if you can come back to this question later.

  • Ask for clarification. Don't be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat the question or ask for more clarification to make sure you understand what is being asked.

  • Ask questions. We want all our interviews to be a two-way process. To ensure you get the best out of your interview, make the most of this opportunity to ask questions that are important to you.
