Salary: National: £54,358- £69,150 (which may include an allowance of up to £14,792). London: £58,847- £73,875 (which may include an allowance of up to £15,028).

The Role
We’re recruiting for Senior Infrastructure Engineers here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative End User Compute Services (EUCS) team within Technology Services team.
This role aligns against Senior Infrastructure Engineer from the Government Digital and Data Framework.
The EUCS Team design, deliver and support the core infrastructure and systems that enable End User Compute Services and line of business applications for over 100,000 Ministry of Justice users across over 800 locations.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, supporting, and managing the technical infrastructure within a highly secure environment. Your expertise will encompass a diverse set of areas, including the management of Azure services, Intune device management, cloud computing, and networking. You will also be knowledgeable in DevOps practices and the implementation of infrastructure as code, ensuring seamless and efficient operations.
Responsibilities:
Azure Cloud Infrastructure:
- Set up and configure Azure resources, including virtual machines, databases, storage, and networking components.
- Support ongoing operations within the Azure environment.
- Monitor and optimize Azure services for performance and cost efficiency.
Intune Device Management:
- Develop and oversee Intune policies for device security, application deployment, and compliance, adhering to Microsoft best practices and utilising security baselines. Ensure that all devices are configured to the highest standards, following NCSC best practices, to guarantee seamless endpoint management across the organisation.
- Ensure seamless management of endpoints across the organisation by collaborating with first and second line teams to resolve issues promptly and implement fixes, maintaining an excellent level of service.
Networking:
- Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers.
- Collaborate with other 3rd line teams to support and manage our networks. Additionally, you will work with third-party vendors where appropriate to implement changes and troubleshoot network issues.
DevOps Practices:
- Collaborate with development teams to streamline deployment pipelines.
- Automate the provisioning, configuration, and monitoring of infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and ARM templates, ensuring efficient and consistent deployment processes.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Develop and maintain infrastructure code using IaC principles (e.g., Terraform, Azure Resource Manager templates).
- Ensure consistency, scalability, and version control for infrastructure components.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement security measures aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements, incorporating practices such as multi-factor authentication, endpoint encryption, secure access controls, regular vulnerability assessments.
- Ensure that designs include robust threat detection, data loss prevention, and adherence to best practices outlined by NCSC and other relevant security frameworks.
- Monitor and address vulnerabilities within the infrastructure.
Collaboration and Mentoring:
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, providing training on infrastructure best practices, and fostering their professional growth through hands-on learning and constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Technical Architecture, Engineering Service Operations teams and other key Stakeholders to deliver high quality outcomes.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will work collaboratively with:
- Lead Engineers
- Technical Architecture and Service Operations teams
- 3rd party Service Managers, Project and Technical leads
- Senior Operations Managers within the EUC team
- Key MOJ stakeholders

Person Specification
Essential
- Proficiency in hardware and software systems design and implementation, including expertise in Intune app packaging for seamless deployment and management of applications.
- Familiarity with Azure services and cloud concepts, with openness to candidates experienced with other cloud providers such as AWS or Google Cloud.
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc.) for automation.
- Strong understanding of network protocols and security best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, communicating effectively with all stakeholders to ensure swift resolution.
- Confident in the area of technical specialism and be fully conversant with other complementary technologies.
- Excellent collaboration and partnership skills, with experience working within wider technical teams, contributing to the development of the engineering team, acting as SME and sharing best practice while promoting continuous learning and development.
Willingness to be assessed against the requirements for SC clearance.
