The Role

We’re recruiting for a Security Operations Manager here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative End User Computing team.

The EUC Security Operations Manager will support the operations and ongoing management of complex technology environments in the Ministry of Justice. Our key suppliers and in-house teams provide services to an estate of over 90,000 end user devices, and over 70,000 users in Probation, Courts, Prisons, and other business areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This role supports the EUC Service Owner in the delivery, maintenance and ongoing future strategy to support business requirements.
  • This role will work with stakeholders/suppliers and other teams to find solutions to gaps between business demand and service offerings.
  • Maintain, improve and report on security systems and to ensure any potential related security issues are identified quickly and mitigated.
  • To provide input to the operational teams by analysis and engagement to improve the Authority's security posture.
  • This role will develop existing and new systems, process and procedures to enhance services and solutions.
  • This role supports the EUC Service Owners in the delivery, maintenance and ongoing future strategy to support business requirements
  • You will act as an escalation point for incidents and day-to-day operational management of the EUC service, including supplier performance management, participating in service level reviews with suppliers and supporting all other aspects of EUC services. 
  • The EUC Operations Manager will support the operation and management of current and future services, and provide governance for both suppliers and internal teams to deliver MoJ solutions.
  • This role will develop existing and new systems, process and procedures to enhance services and solutions.

You will:

  • Lead engagement with senior Stakeholders and users alike and be the first point of escalation
  • Responsible for monitoring EUCS focussed IT Security correlating the findings and reporting them to the D&T management function.
  • Develop and maintain a security dashboard, reporting on security status and progress.
  • Ensure that a risk based approach is adopted regarding delivery of IT Security.
  • Implement improvements to the existing IT Security mechanisms in use.
  • Input and contribution towards the Information Security strategy.
  • Liaise with project teams to ensure required security measures are implement within a security by design approach to new and implemented services.
  • Protect end user computing assets by implementing and enforcing security controls.
  • Work cross functionally to gain insight of emerging critical security issues; proposing risk-reduction solutions.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging security trends, risks, new guidance or standards (internal and external) and security enhancing technologies.
  • Liaising with technical teams to ensure that security principles are embedded in architectural designs.
  • To understand and work towards Key Performance Indicators regarding Security process adherence.
  • Work with internal teams and suppliers to identify resolutions to incidents and problem tickets, and utilise this data to improve the service of a product
  • Have working knowledge of end user environments and Enterprise tools (GSuite/ O365/ Windows/ MacOS), and broader technology services.
  • Have experience of recognised methodologies or structures - ITIL, Agile, Waterfall, 5-Case Model etc.

Person Specification


Essential:


  • Demonstrable experience in Operations of large enterprise - preferably central government. Including knowledge of processes and governance.
  • Experience developing strong relationships in complex stakeholder networks and successfully delivering services via suppliers and dynamic inhouse teams.
  • Working knowledge of end user environments and IT risk management
  • Use of recognised methodologies or structures - ITIL, Agile, Prince2, 5-Case Model.
  • Knowledge of platforms used in geographically-distributed systems architectures.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to proactively meet deadlines and priorities.
