Salary: National £42,914-£51,675 which may include an allowance of £8,761 London £49,325-£56,050 which may include an allowance of £6,725

The Role
We’re recruiting for a Test Engineer here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative End User Compute Services (EUCS) team.
This role aligns against Quality Assurance Testing from the Government Digital and Data Framework
The EUCS team is part of Technology Services in Justice Digital, a modern and diverse workplace that promotes a healthy work-life balance and flexible working options. They design, deliver and support the core infrastructure and systems that enable End User Compute Services and line of business applications for over 100,000 Ministry of Justice users across over 800 locations.
The Test Engineer role has a focus on test planning activities including discovery capture, test definition and the estimation of test effort to ensure all EUC services are fit for purpose and allow MoJ staff to undertake their operational duties effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Maintain Test Strategies: Create and maintain robust test strategies for all products and services within the agreed service area.
- Design and Execute Tests: Design and execute tests that reflect agreed business and operational scenarios.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Product Leads to implement effective test strategies as part of EUC service life cycle management. Partner with technical and non-technical colleagues across the MoJ to design and execute test scenarios and produce detailed test reports.
- Problem Investigation and Analysis: Undertake testing during problem investigations, identify patterns and trends, and contribute to solutions.
- Modern Testing Approaches: Leverage automation techniques where appropriate and implement modern testing practices.
- Release and Change Management: Apply knowledge of release management processes and workflows. Work within change management frameworks to ensure smooth transitions.
- Cloud Deployment Solutions: Manage cloud-based deployment solutions (e.g., Intune, Workspace).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams to frame test plans around technical solutions.
- Technical Tools Implementation: Implement appropriate technical test tools to support effective testing.

Person Specification
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams: Work with Product Leads to implement effective test strategies as part of EUC service life cycle management. Partner with technical and non-technical colleagues across the organisation to design and execute test scenarios and produce detailed test reports.
- Ability to learn and implement appropriate technical test tools, analyse changes to product and service development, run and manage tests to ensure requirements are fully met.
- Experience of using a range of contemporary technologies and stay up to date with industry developments to make cost-effective use of emerging tools and technologies.
- Proven professional awareness in areas such as architecture, continuous integration and deployment, coding, or scripting languages. Visualise and articulate complex problems and concepts, making disciplined decisions based on available information.
- Shows willingness to help transform government into a more agile organisation by embedding modern automation testing practices.
- Maintains a proactive attitude toward documenting software, business processes, and incidents, viewing automated tests as living documentation.
