The Role

We’re recruiting for Infrastructure Engineers here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative Microsoft 365 (M365) team, part of our End User Computer Support function.


This role aligns against SEO Infrastructure Engineer from the Government Digital and Data Framework



The M365 Team designs, delivers, and supports the core infrastructure and systems that enable seamless usage of Microsoft 365 services for over 100,000 Ministry of Justice users across over 800 locations.

As an Infrastructure Engineer in the M365 Team, you will:



  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive M365 initiatives across the organisation.
  • Oversee the implementation of M365 architectures that meet current and future business needs.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend their adoption based on business value and security considerations.
  • Develop and update M365 policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensure that M365 practices align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Assess M365-related risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to integrate M365 into the organisation's overall risk management framework.
  • Lead incident response efforts related to M365 incidents.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and implement improvements to prevent future incidents.
  • Ensure M365 solutions comply with industry regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with auditors to address M365-related audit findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage relationships with M365 solution vendors.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and assess the potential impact on the organisation.
  • Implement automation solutions to streamline M365 processes and improve efficiency.
  • Optimise M365 systems for performance, scalability, and resource utilisation.
  • Collaborate with the IT security team to align M365 practices with broader security initiatives.
  • Contribute to the execution of the organisation's security strategy.
  • Foster a culture of security awareness within the organisation.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of M365 solutions and processes.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement to enhance the organisation's M365 posture.
  • Provide regular updates on M365 initiatives, challenges, and achievements.
  • Provide level 3 support when necessary and act as a point of escalation for more serious problems.
  • Share knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team and community, both developers and non-developers, while also maintaining a collaboration culture.


The Infrastructure Engineer will work collaboratively with:


  • Lead and Senior Engineers
  • Technical Architecture and Service Operations teams
  • 3rd party Service Managers, Project and Technical leads
  • Senior Operations Managers within the EUC team
  • Key MOJ stakeholders



Please note, you will be required to take part in an on-call rota, sharing the responsibility of providing out of hours engineering cover for major incidents for which an additional allowance is payable.

Person Specification

Essential


You will demonstrate the following;



  • Experience with Microsoft 365 configurations, management, and administration.
  • Experience in automations or CI/CD using tools like Azure DevOps, PowerShell, and Microsoft Endpoint Manager and automation.
  • Experience in working with technical solutions for M365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Knowledge and experience with authentication standards and technologies such as multi-factor authentication, SSO, and Conditional Access Policies.
  • A systematic approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, debugging and analytical skills.
  • Openness to learning new technologies, new ways of working and new processes whilst maintaining high standards of technical expertise.



Willingness to be assessed against the requirements for SC clearance.
