The Role

We’re recruiting for two Digital Finance Leads here at Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our warm and collaborative Digital Finance team.

The Digital Finance Lead will be responsible for:

  • Strengthening operational financial management and governance across Justice Digital, Data & Science (JDDS);
  • Building and continuously improving operational finance processes and reporting to support better transparency and strong financial control;
  • Leading, developing and growing a high-performing, engaged team of Digital Finance Managers and Analysts, building capability and fostering a positive, inclusive culture

Key Responsibilities:

Strengthen Operational financial management and governance across Justice Digital, Data & Science (JDDS):

  • Support colleagues across JDDS and the Finance function by improving the quality and transparency of financial inputs that underpin forecasting (through P2P, contract tracking and related activities).
  • Provide high-quality financial reporting and analysis to support decision-making across JDDS;
  • Support effective budget management by improving visibility of spend, highlighting risks and opportunities through reporting and tracking processes;
  • Work with colleagues to resolve issues relating to financial processes, data quality and system inputs;
  • Promote good financial management practices across JDDS by improving processes, tools and transparency.

Build and continuously improving operational finance processes and reporting to support better transparency and strong financial control:

  • Lead the design and continuous improvement of operational finance processes across JDDS, ensuring consistency, scalability and strong financial control, by:
  • Owning and evolving the end-to-end purchase-to-pay (P2P) process, working across Finance, Commercial and JDDS to simplify, standardise and strengthen controls;
  • Leading the continuous improvement of the financial management of contracts, through contract tracking and improved visibility of commitments, strengthening transparency and control over spend across JDDS;
  • Owning the development and evolution of operational financial reporting, dashboards and performance products, ensuring consistent, high-quality visibility of spend and activity.

Leading, developing and growing a high-performing, engaged team of Digital Finance Managers and Analysts, building capability and fostering a positive, inclusive culture:

  • Lead and motivate a team of capable Digital Finance Managers and Analysts;
  • Develop individual and team capability through effective coaching, development and performance management, embedding JDDS values and behaviours;
  • Define team priorities and objectives, ensuring alignment with JDDS priorities and enabling effective, focused delivery.

Salary Information**

Base salary for this role is from London: £63,343 - £70,725; National: £58,511 - £65,329


  • New entrants to the Civil Service joining the MoJ are expected to start at the minimum of the pay band.
  • Existing Civil Servants moving on a level transfer will retain their current base salary or move to the minimum of the pay band for the role, whichever is higher.
  • Existing Civil Servants who are promoted will either move to the bottom of the new grade’s pay band or receive a 10% uplift, whichever provides the greater increase.

Stage 2 - Interviews:
