We’re recruiting for a Senior Performance Analyst here at Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our warm and collaborative Legal Aid Agency (LAA) team.
This role aligns against Senior Performance Analyst from the Government Digital and Data Framework

Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Performance Analyst, you will:
- Lead the development and analysis of Service Metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for our digital services.
- Use SQL and other tools to extract data from disparate sources, interpreting, and presenting meaningful insights.
- Build and maintain Performance Frameworks across the Agile lifecycle.
- Ensure data accuracy, quality, and relevance in all analysis.
- Apply statistical techniques to assess the impact of service iterations.
- Support user-centred design by embedding data into product decision-making.
- Deliver clear, actionable insights and recommendations to improve services.
- Create engaging data visualisations using tools like Power BI, Metabase, Amazon Quicksights, Google Analytics, and Excel.
- Analyse user behaviour to drive customer-centric improvements.
- Communicate data stories to product teams to inform design and development.
- Demonstrate whether services meet performance standards set out in Service Level Agreements.
- Actively contribute to the Performance Analyst community, sharing best practices and innovations.

Person Specification
Essential
- Proven experience in performance analysis or a similar data-driven role.
- Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with:
- Power BI
- Amazon Quicksights
- Google Analytics
- Google Tag Manager
- Strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative data sources, and the ability to identify appropriate ways to collect, collate and prepare data.
- Ability to operate in an environment where data is disparate and inconsistent, applying iterative improvement to performance measurement.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and present to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Experience working in Agile teams and with User-Centred Design (UCD) approaches.
- Demonstrable deep understanding of business goals and ability to turn these into tangible performance measures.

Salary Information**
Base salary for this role is from (London) £49,325 – £53,081 and (National) £42,914 – £46,182.
- New entrants to the Civil Service joining the MoJ are expected to start at the minimum of the pay band.
- Existing Civil Servants moving on a level transfer will retain their current base salary or move to the minimum of the pay band for the role, whichever is higher.
- Existing Civil Servants who are promoted will either move to the bottom of the new grade’s pay band or receive a 10% uplift, whichever provides the greater increase.

- A Personal Statement (no more than 500 words) which should outline your experience and skills, giving clear examples of work undertaken. It should be split into two clear sections that answer the following questions and be a maximum of 250 words each:
- Describe a time when you overcame data quality and consistency challenges. How did you generate meaningful insights that enabled better decision-making?
- Describe a time when you operated in an environment where business objectives were unclear. How did you collaborate with stakeholders to agree suitable performance metrics?
Your Personal Statement will be used to assess the following 3 criteria listed below:

Stage 2 - Interviews:
Successful candidates who meet the required standard will then be invited to a panel interview held via Microsoft Teams. At interview stage, you will be assessed against the following Success Profile elements - Experience, Technical and the following Behaviours:

As part of your interview, you will be asked to complete a technical test that assesses your technical capability. Further details will be provided if successful at sift.
Appointments are made strictly in merit order. In the event that two or more candidates receive identical interview scores, the “Communicating and Influencing” behaviour will be applied as the primary lead criterion to determine the final merit order.
