Our Culture

Being part of CrossReach

We’re an organisation built with empathy and without judgement, made to improve lives and inspire change. Across our services and locations, we’re united by a common purpose and shared values – by a distinctive CrossReach culture.

It shapes our approach every day, from the care we provide to the colleagues we support. It’s why our people stay with us and it’s why you will thrive with us. Find out more about our unique culture here, starting with an introduction from Viv Dickenson, our Chief Executive Officer..

Our Values

At CrossReach we believe that living our values is what makes us who we are. For us, values are more than just a poster on the wall, they are in everything we do, every day.

  • We will ensure that the reasons for our actions are transparent and that we act with integrity

  • We will seek to serve and support everyone in a spirit of grace, humility and compassion

  • We will consult with and involve individuals and/or their representatives in issues that affect them

  • We will accept and respect everyone for their own individual worth

  • We will treat everyone with fairness and consistency and be accountable for our actions

Our Mission Statement

"In Christ’s name we seek to support people to achieve the highest quality of life which they are capable of achieving at any given time."

CrossReach is the Church of Scotland’s Social Care Council, a charity delivering a broad range of services and support for people across the country, regardless of faith. We’re here to bring vulnerable people the support they need. Giving them a helping hand means giving them the chance to live life to the full, whatever their circumstances.

It’s a role we’ve had for 150 years. In that time, we’ve developed and adapted to the needs of the people we help, putting us at the forefront of social care and helping us change literally thousands of lives for the better. Today, we’re one of Scotland’s largest care providers, but we’re still changing – learning, improving and growing with the help of our incredible people. People just like you.

Our Christian Ethos

CrossReach is a part of the Church of Scotland and our Christian Ethos is central to what we do. We’re here to reflect Christian love through practical work – in our care, leadership and working relationships.

You don’t need to be a Christian to work with us. Most of our roles are open to people of all faiths (or none). What’s important is that you share the broad values so fundamental to our work – treating all people with love, respect and dignity.

Some roles do require you to share the Christian faith, which is made clear when advertised. This can include any Christian denomination and does not mean you have to go to church. However, you must be able to demonstrate your faith – in both your application and in your interview – and you’ll be asked for a reference from someone who can testify to your faith.

Diversity and Inclusion

At CrossReach, we are committed to ensuring that we attract, retain, and develop the very best people to build a diverse and talented team and we recognise that every individual’s unique background, experience and ability contributes to our future success.

At CrossReach we are proud to provide services that support people from all backgrounds, and this goes for our staff too and we actively encourage applications from those with lived experience. We want to create an inclusive and inspiring environment where individuals feel valued and respected and where people can belong, thrive, achieve their full potential and be their very best, whoever they are.

We offer a range of flexible working opportunities and are always happy to talk to those who require further support to access employment.
